Apply for a Wine Grape Smoke Taint Grant

• Who is eligible?

  South Australian wine grape producers are eligible for grants of up to $10,000 if they:

  • have suffered crop loss from smoke taint and a decline in revenue caused by the Black Summer 2019-20 bushfires
  • are located outside Local Government Areas eligible for Emergency Bushfire Response in Primary Industries (EBRPI) or small business bushfire recovery grants
  • are a registered business at the time of the disaster; and 
  • can match the grant with a dollar-for-dollar contribution.

• Can I claim for separate businesses?

  Yes. Applicants who operate more than one wine grape production business under a single ABN may apply for assistance for each eligible business affected by smoke taint during the South Australian 2019-20 bushfires.

• What do I need before starting my application?

  To complete your application, you will need to provide evidence of:

  • Sales invoices or grape research levy return documents
  • crop loss from smoke taint – this can be demonstrated through smoke taint tests or other evidence
  • bank statements, business activity statements, levy returns to demonstrate decline in revenue and sales or grapes harvested of 40% in a relevant three-month period in the previous year
  • current rates notice or lease agreement (proof of location).
