Opportunities for local manufacturers with world’s largest virtual power plant
Local manufacturers will play a key role in a new renewable energy project that will see South Australia become home to the world’s largest virtual power plant.

The virtual power plant will be created by installing solar panels and Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries on as many as 50,000 South Australian homes, combining to create a 250mw power plant.

South Australian companies are primed to reap the benefits of this major renewable energy project as the contract with Tesla stipulates local contractors must be used.

Tesla have also confirmed they will establish a Service Hub at Tonsley - a commitment that falls within the Hornsdale Battery Project.

The Service Hub will allow for local technicians to monitor and service the Powerpacks in Hornsdale, along with the Superchargers that have been installed across the State, and the residential Powerwall installations. The Hub also has the potential to service Tesla batteries throughout Asia Pacific.
