Small Business Fundamentals Program

An initiative in South Australia's Small Business Strategy 2023 - 2030, the Small Business Fundamentals Program is an opportunity for small business owners to build knowledge and capabilities in areas such as finance and investment, management, strategic planning, marketing and communications, human resources and more.

The programs will be delivered through workshops, seminars, mentoring, training sessions and more, and will help your business with access to essential knowledge, assisting you to sustainably grow your businesses.


Spread across regions throughout SA, the program will be delivered by 10 partner organisations giving you access to subsidised programs at low cost.

Polaris Small Business Fundamentals Program

Free business networking events, one-to-one consultations, workshops, and a several opportunities for discounted mentoring programs for local business owners.

Business leaders will build fundamental knowledge and capability in areas critical to long-term business sustainability and growth, through workshops and mentoring sessions.

Workshops covering topics such a strategic planning, branding, marketing and engagement in the digital age; communication and negotiation skills for business leaders; and resilience in a challenging environment.

Business for Good: Social Enterprise Sector Development Program

This is an 18-month program delivered across three streams that include early advice, information and referrals, group workshops and an advisory support service consisting of a social procurement readiness program and a business growth coaching program.

Businesses will be connected to expert facilitators who will help you identify the key plans, priorities, and processes that your business needs to succeed. Each participant will develop a new or updated business plan.

This program will consist of workshops, seminars and one-on-one support and mentoring. An advisory committee will be established, consisting of representatives from existing businesses, commerce, and tourism associations to oversee the program.

The program will build participants fundamental knowledge and capability in areas critical to long term business sustainability and growth, and will be delivered across financial management, cash flow and budgeting leadership and management and marketing and sales.

Creative practitioners and arts professionals will be supported to build capacity, to apply strategies to professional goals, and to devise practical business plans within the creative economy. There will be networking and collaboration opportunities through a guided peer-coaching program.
