Improving workplace productivity doesn’t necessarily mean working longer hours or having more (or less) staff. Sometimes, adopting technology is a possible solution to consider when looking for ways to become more efficient.

There are many digital business tools available that can supercharge your small business, streamline your processes, and free you and your employees to focus on other areas.

  1. Cloud Computing: On-demand technology available over the internet - otherwise known as cloud computing - allows you to store your data and software applications on remote servers, accessible from anywhere with an internet connection. This technology not only saves physical space but also ensures data security, easy collaboration among team members, and has unlimited storage capacity or ‘scalability’.
  2. Project management tools: Keeping track of tasks and deadlines by your business and individual team members can be a real challenge. Traditional whiteboards have been replaced with digital tools or applications such as Trello, Asana, and Monday.com that help you organise your projects, assign tasks, set deadlines, and track progress, making it easier for you to manage your team and stay on top of things.

These e-commerce platforms have templates you can customise to suit your business, secure payment gateways, inventory management and marketing tools, enabling you to reach a wider customer base and boost sales.

Shifting your approach to business from the traditional way to new technology might seem overwhelming at first, and come at an initial cost, but the return and benefits they will bring to your business could be worth it.

Start by identifying the pain points in your operations and explore which technology might best fix those challenges. Gradually integrate them into your operations or workflow, provide proper training to your team, and monitor the impact on your productivity and efficiency.
