Australian mid-career to established creative practitioners can now apply for the Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) EXPAND Lab, to be held in Adelaide from 22 – 27 October 2023.
2023 AFF EXPAND Lab is a development initiative bringing together 30 Australian visual artists, filmmakers, video artists, writers, VR/AR artists and other screen creatives. There are 30 places available for 15 South Australia-based practitioners and 15 national.
Participants will work with each other and learn from renowned industry mentors, digital artist Daniel Crooks, theatre maker and media artist Robert Walton, highly respected moving image and film producer Bridget Ikin with video artist and filmmaker Amos Gebhardt, to develop bold new moving image projects for Australian audiences and beyond.
One team will be awarded the $100,000 EXPAND Moving Image Commission to be presented with Samstag Museum of Art in the 2025 Adelaide Film Festival with two other projects selected for mentoring by Art Gallery of SA and Illuminate Adelaide.
There is no charge to attend the Lab and participants will receive a basic stipend to cover daily costs. Regional SA and national participants may be eligible for travel and accommodation support.
