Don’t let old tech put your business at risk

Old or unsupported technology can increase cyber security risks for your business.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is encouraging businesses to check their devices, systems and software, and update or replace anything that is no longer supported.

Legacy technology is technology that no longer receives important security updates from the manufacturer, developer or provider. Without these updates, your business may be more exposed to cyber threats.

A good place to start is by identifying older technology in your business, checking whether it is still supported, and making a plan to update or replace it. This is especially important for devices and systems that store business or customer information.

For some businesses, replacing outdated technology may cost less than recovering from a cyber incident. Last financial year, the average self-reported cost of cybercrime was $80,000.
