Next single-use plastics to be banned

Public consultation on proposed regulations to ban four single-use plastic products from 1 September is now open.

Business and industry are invited to share their views on the products to be banned and proposed exemptions, identify any issues or potential unintended consequences not addressed by the draft regulations.

Single-use plastic products to banned from September 1 include:

  • plastic pizza savers
  • plastic-stemmed cotton buds
  • single–use plastic bowls without lids for food and beverages
  • single-use plastic plates for food.

Public consultation closes Tuesday 28 February 2023 at YourSAy.
