Know the new workplace laws

Significant legislative amendments to Australia’s workplace relations laws have reshaped key aspects of the legal framework and will create a raft of new compliance requirements and challenges for businesses.

If you have employees, the Recent industrial changes: employment status, rights and wage theft presentation on Tuesday 30 April during Small Business Week, is essential to attend.

Victoria Halliday from Ai Group will unpack the three areas of change that will impact small business owners:

  • Changes to employment status, covering the changes to who is an employee and who is a casual, and the new rules regarding fixed term contracts
  • Changes to rights during employment, covering the right to disconnect and changes to flexible working requests and parental leave
  • New laws regarding wage theft.

Victoria Halliday is the Head of Legal & Consulting at Ai Group Workplace Lawyers, a leading provider of workplace relations legal and consulting services. A commercial service within the Australian Industry Group, a peak national employer organisation, Victoria leads a national team of workplace relations lawyers and consultants working with employers to solve complex problems arising in the workplace.
