The Business SA Survey of Business Expectations showed business confidence in South Australia is now 13.2 points higher than the national average, at 96.9 points. This follows a 16.3 point increase across the past two quarters of 2022.
The impact of large events and festivals, such as the VALO 500, the AFL Gather Round, Adelaide Fringe and LIV Golf, are making a difference to our small business community: an overwhelming 77.9 per cent of survey respondents viewed large-scale events as beneficial to business in the state.
And South Australia’s role in the AUKUS submarine announcement, which will see $2 billion in expected investment into South Australia over the next four years and create thousands of jobs, is clearly boosting confidence in our state’s future.
At the same time, our Government understands the pressures on small business and we’ve heard from thousands of business owners across the state about the impact of rising power bills.
The South Australian Government has invested $127.1 million, matched by the Australian Government dollar for dollar, for the Energy Bill Relief Plan. Eligible small businesses will have $650 automatically deducted from their electricity bill.
