New support for Whyalla’s small businesses

A joint $10 million Australian and South Australian government package will support workers, businesses and the Whyalla community following the closure of the Whyalla Steelworks blast furnace.

If you’re a local businesses or supply chain partner, assistance is available to help you manage the impacts of the closure, access support services, receive financial counselling and identify new opportunities.

This support may include:

  • Business advisory services
  • Financial counselling and support
  • Workforce planning assistance
  • Access to government programs and grants
  • Support to identify new business opportunities and markets
  • Connections to relevant government and industry services
  • Support for your employees that may be retrenched

If you need assistance navigating the available supports, the Regional Coordinator for Whyalla, John Chapman, is available to provide on-the-ground guidance.

Businesses can also complete an online Impact Survey to help government understand your circumstances and connect you with relevant information and services.
