Updated shop trading hours for businesses

The South Australian Government has announced three extra weekdays of midnight shopping ahead of this year’s Christmas trading period.

Shops across Adelaide will be able to open until midnight on Black Friday 24 November, as well as 14, 21 and 22 December following amendments to shop trading hours legislation.

Christmas Day will also be declared a public holiday regardless of whether it falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

In the city and suburbs, businesses will continue to have the option to open at 9am on Sundays and trade on 26 December, with the exception of larger supermarkets. Businesses can still choose to open later than 9am or not at all on Sundays and 26 December, noting your staff can decline work on Sundays and public holidays.

The rest of regional SA is deregulated and shops can trade whenever they choose.
