Algal Bloom business support expanded and extended to mid 2026

Eligible businesses impacted by the ongoing algal bloom can now access increased and extended financial support under the State Government’s Algal Bloom Summer Plan.

The Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant and the Small Business Support Grant programs have both been extended to 31 July 2026, with additional grant payments now available if you can demonstrate further separate three-months periods of downturn through to mid-2026.

Other key updates include:

• Small businesses that have already received a grant can now apply for up to three grant payments: an initial $10,000 payment and second and third grant payments of $20,000 each, bringing total support to up to $50,000.

• Commercial fishing and aquaculture operators may also be eligible for a second grant payment of up to $100,000, plus an additional up to $25,000 to support employee wages. In total, licence holders may now receive up to $225,000 in support through the Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant.

Applications for both programs close 31 July 2026.
