Celebrating SA's small businesses on Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day

Small and family businesses are the driving force of South Australia’s economy.

They are the butcher at the market, the family-run shop, your local tradie, or the business owner backing an idea of their own.

International Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day on 27 June was a chance to recognise the people behind these businesses and the work that goes into starting, running and growing a business.

South Australia is home to more than 164,000 small businesses operating across every industry in our state. They support jobs, bring products and services to local areas, and help keep our main streets, markets and regions moving.

Here are three South Australian business stories that show the range of businesses contributing to our state.

Healthy Heads

Healthy Heads is a South Australian business founded by Deborah Faehrmann, creating practical scalp care products designed to support families.

With support through the Fearless Innovator Grant, the business has grown its profile, built new connections and continued to expand into retail, distribution and international markets.

Marino Meats

Marino Meats has been part of the Adelaide Central Market for nearly 50 years.

Established in 1975, the family business is known for authentic Italian flavours, quality products and a strong connection to South Australian producers.

Now led by Riccardo Marino, the business continues to build on its family history while championing local products.

Based in Port Adelaide, the business supplies mobility products including wheelchairs, adventure bikes, paddleboard seats and accessories.

Push Mobility is also connected to Accessible Beaches Australia, helping improve beach access for people who use wheelchairs.
