Financial support for businesses affected by the algal bloom

South Australian businesses affected by algal bloom can now access more support, with existing grant programs extended and a new resilience grant available.

Small businesses in the marine and coastal sector can apply for the Algal Bloom Small Business Support Grant, offering up to $50,000 to help manage ongoing costs and continued viability of their business.

Commercial fisheries and aquaculture licence holders can access up to $225,000 through the Algal Bloom Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant to cover fixed costs and overheads. Businesses that received earlier payments may now be eligible to apply again if impacts continue.

Applications for both programs are open until 31 July 2026.

To support the longer-term recovery of fisheries and aquaculture businesses, the Algal Bloom Resilience Grant provides up to $150,000 for projects that strengthen operations, create new opportunities or protect local jobs. A recorded webinar is available to explain eligibility and example projects. Applications close 31 March 2026.

Important note for existing applicants

If you are applying for additional funding under an existing grant program, do not start a new application. Log in to your original application to access the Grant Extension A form.
